JCB is a manufacturer of construction, agricultural, waste handling and demolition equipment. It is the third largest construction company in the world. It produces more than 300 types of machines such as excavators, tractors and diesel engines etc. JCB’s products are sold in more than 150 countries.
History
JCB was founded in 1945 by Joseph Cyril Bamford, after whom it is named; It is owned by the Bamford family. In the UK, India and Ireland, “JCB” is often used colloquially as a generic description for mechanical diggers and excavators and now appears in the Oxford English Dictionary, although it is still used as a trademark. In 2014, it was reported that three out of every four pieces of construction equipment sold in India was a JCB, and that its Indian operations accounted for 17.5% of its total revenue.[12] JCB-based memes have also become prevalent in India.
