The full form of CV is “Curriculum vitae“. A curriculum vitae (CV) is an overview of a person’s experience and other qualifications that is required for a job opportunity. It is similar to a resume in North America. It is a complete profile of a candidate including his full name, address, phone number, email id, educational qualifications, hobbies, achievements, soft skills, languages known, computer skills, career objective, marital status etc. Some parts of Asia require applicants’ photos, date of birth, and most recent salary information. An ideal CV size is 2 or 3 A4 size pages.

Résumé Versus CV

A CV contains greater detail than a résumé, a shorter summary which is more often used in applications for jobs, but it is often expected that professionals use a short CV that highlights the current focus of their academic lives and not necessarily their full history. A CV is generally used when applying for a position in academia, while a resume is generally used when applying for a position in industry, non-profit, and the public sector. If you are a recent college graduate, include a good grade point average and details about any internships. You can list your most recent job first; highlight skills acquired from a particular job; or use a combination of both.
