OMR: Optical Mark Recognition

The full form of OMR is Optical Mark Recognition. OMR is the process of reading human-marked data from documents such as surveys and tests. OMR recognizes the mark made by a human on any document or documents used in examination, survey etc. or specially printed letters. It is commonly used where a large number of applicants apply and the data has to be processed quickly and with precision. Data from the document is read from the OMR reader. The data sheet is scanned through a scanner that flashes a beam of light on the form paper and detects areas of limited light transmittance i.e.; As marked areas they reflect less light than empty areas. It gives less than 1% error.
